POSITION TITLE: Project Site Manager (Portal Cranes Projects) – Engineered Modernizations

  • The Project  Manager for Portal Cranes Projects orders for all of Region Americas Portal Cranes  (USA) and will be responsible for the coordination of all pre-production (scope definition), planning stage, (activities with sequencing schedule), production stage, (budget management and resource allocation), and project installation (in coordination with the customer, sub-contractors and frontline service organization) of assigned orders for the portal product line.
  • Specific duties include, but are not limited to; attend kick off meetings with field sales and internal engineering, facilitate on site client and sub-contractor meetings, drafts milestone delivery schedules to meet the customer deliverable promises. Also monitor the production processes, selection of installation sub-contractors, maintain product standards, develop installation packages and conduct installation kick off meetings with shift supervisor services and sub contracts to communicate the entire process to a successful on time, estimated margin expectation project.
  • You will be responsible to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of each project using your communication, technical expertise, and organizational skills to achieve customer satisfaction and the financial goals of the business unit.


  • Ensure order meets our guidelines to validate and acknowledge the customer scope (internal & external customers).
  • Develop bill of materials from the order to clarify an exact deliverable package.
  • Using Microsoft Project develop schedule timelines that are shared with the customer and used internally to manage resources.
  • Work with and develop new resources (sub-contract manufacturers and installers) for best possible delivery and cost with a regional focus.
  • Maintain cost sheets and continuously monitoring cost versus estimate on each Installation to manage overall budget forecast.
  • Visit manufacturing resources in-house and outside sub-contractors to ensure product delivery and quality.
  • Develop relationships with field install crews by having knowledge of the project site requirements so the final deliverables meet our customer satisfaction requirements.
  • Coordinate delivery and installation of field material with sub-contractors and customer representatives.
  • Maintain continuous dialog with customers (internal & external) updating them that all key milestones.
  • Manage cost to maintain or improve order CMII forecast

EDUCATION:  4-year university degree or college diploma or previous technical and organizational experience will be considered.


REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the skill set in effectiveness for planning, control monitoring, engineering processes, conflict management and resolution, contracting, procurement, quality assurance management, and advance communication abilities. The individual should have a technical expertise for electrical, mechanical, and field installations relating to the crane industry. A qualified candidate should be able to process technical information and provide technical instructions. Being able to read mechanical and electrical prints are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word are required. Verbal and literary communication plays a key role in this position where regular reporting is required.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position also requires the direct interface between engineering, sub-contract resources, suppliers and in-house technical experts in order to be successful in a quality order delivery. Travel estimated at 40/50% to meet with customers, witness product testing and visits install sites.
