Service Technician / Mechanical Technician (m/f/x) Harbor Cranes - International

Your credo: Full commitment to on-site support related to ports and terminals – because you will be contacted by Port Services Sales, Port Services frontlines and branches as well as customers worldwide on various technical issues. On call, you will travel to site according to the work schedule to remedy issues or provide support for different types of value-added services to ensure business runs smoothly. From time to time, you will be able solve some technical issues relating to our harbor cranes remotely by telephone or email, or if necessary, in cooperation with subcontractors and specialist teams, e.g. in the event of malfunctions in the control system and hydraulics.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Based on issues reported by customers or service branches or automatically generated status and fault messages and codes, you will identify the cause of the issue and will be able to accurately assess the impact at customer site whenever troubleshooting detective work is required of you – either on your own or in cooperation with other support technicians or specialist teams.
  • If the issue cannot be remedied by remote diagnosis, you will assess the situation and decide whether personnel needs to be sent to site. To this end, you will communicate and cooperate with customers, other support technicians and the respective specialist teams or service branches. Together you will define the any further procedures and solutions for troubleshooting and agree on the deployment, personnel and technical implementation.  
  • As a site manager, you will organize personnel and tools. You will coordinate the schedule with customers or representatives of the subsidiaries so the necessary work on the cranes whose availability will constantly be changing is done. In addition, you will occasionally provide support for the Training Center to bridge staff shortages.
  • You get creative when a solution needs to be improvised: Together with the Spare Parts team, you will identify components and find solutions for wear & tear as well as replacement parts (such as hydraulic pumps) and provide consulting services for Spare Parts Sales and Design Engineering regarding technical feasibility and costs.
  • In the event of an insurance claims, you will initiate all necessary measures for technical claims processing.

 

Your profile:

  • Completed vocational training, supplemented by a 2-year specialist training, e.g. to become a state-certified technician in mechanical engineering, or a comparable qualification
  • More than one year in a similar position including experience with hydraulics, repairs of mechanical systems, cranes in the port technology sector or in a similar industry as well as in customer service, ideally also in the planning, design and/or development of technical projects
  • Fluent German and English; additional languages are beneficial
  • Sound knowledge of SAP and MS Office
  • You are a team player with excellent communication skills and commitment to service, but also very well able to work independently and autonomously.
  • Capable of working at heights, willingness and ability to work regularly on projects and assignments around the globe.
