Konecranes Global Logistics services include focus areas like warehousing, Freight Management and Shipping. The team will be responsible for enabling professional management of global logistics including related measuring, processes development and supplier development in logistic environment contributing to the improvement in EBIT for the Konecranes Group. The team will be a part of procurement function responsible for approx. 2 billion euro spend globally covering all business areas.

 

We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated team player to join Procurement Leadership team. As our Director, Global Logistics Services you will work towards taking Konecranes Logistics Services to excellent level that will have attributes of proactivity, effective control and prediction mechanisms leading to a business performance improvement and supply chain reliability driving reduction of cost to serve of global logistics while improving service excellence. As a people manager you will establish and lead Global Logistics Services and create strong logistical community working in collaboration both with different BA/support functions stakeholders and external suppliers.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Global Logistics and integrated structure with supply chains and procurement activities minimizing total system cost while making sure Logistic Service providers are providing excellent customer service reducing lead time in the total supply chain
  • Ensure a close interaction and active communication towards stakeholders like Global procurement peers, logistic organizations, and global customs coordination team to increase awareness, collaboration and networking
  • Create a strategic roadmap for logistic development in your focus areas
  • Participate in annual planning, budgeting and target setting
  • Participate in implementation of localization activities supporting BA roadmaps
  • Monitor and identify risk levels, areas of improvement and conduct deep dive analysis and present business cases, analytics to support decision making
  • Ensure logistic community is well informed of the external logistical changes and equipped to manage inventories at appropriate levels
  • Support stakeholders to identify potential issues with inventory optimization
  • Drive continual improvement on KPI’s and related monitoring
  • Monitor impacts of trade war, and propose and implement mitigation plans
  • Develop further guidelines, policies and framework for your area of responsibility
  • Optimize freight forwarding flows within the group
  • Optimize saving non-tender projects; logistic mode, route, etc. changes & facilitate cost optimum calculation for bundling vs. flexibility on transportation modes
  • Participate in operational review meetings with suppliers and Improvement projects both with BAs and selected supplier
  • Define globally common KPIs and related global dashboards
  • Train procurement to negotiate with different logistic models
  • Facilitate proactive / early warning management towards BA organizations
  • Manage escalated cases related to LSPs, 3PL and/or 4PL companies together with supplier managers managing the supplier relationship
  • Utilize consolidation opportunities across international shipment volumes
  • Participate in coordination of supplier Long Term Vendor Declarations collection
  • Enable logistic cost transparency and make sure we constantly optimize Break Even points Btw FCL & LCL for main logistic lanes
  • Establish core KPI reporting (Transit-time, Damage etc) by the suppliers
  • Define/roll-out plan for LSP track & trace tool linked with KC’s ERP
  • Establish environment CO2/Sulphur Emission reporting
  • Enable internal escalation in order to improve LSP performance based on facts
  • Establish standardized way to do Lead time in ERP vs. Actual transit time follow up together with sites and suppliers
  • Participate or drive projects like DC or operations outsourcing arrangements
  • Contribute to KPIs and Qualitative target setting for LSP tender process
  • Do continuous evaluation of physical distribution network, lane structures, transport mode strategies and supplier capacity requirements
  • Coordinate global studies and support compliance activities/duties
  • Screen insourcing/outsourcing opportunities for procurement to negotiate; global shipment planning, transport and capacity planning (ocean/road/air)
  • Participate in export/import customs clearance for special cases when needed
  • Drive external warehousing/storage and containers utilization to reduce cost to serve

 

What should you bring

  • Professional degree in business/procurement/logictics. Master’s degree preferred
  • Working experience of minimum 10 yrs in Logistics or in Procurement in Global multicultural environment
  • A good Inter-culture understanding, service mindset and a team spirit attitude with the wish to “grow” together with the people working in the group
  • A structured, systematic approach and an analytical thinking mindset
  • Strong business orientation and ability to work with the overall perspective as well as details, and a drive to understand what's behind the figures
  • Solid communication skills, English language fluency and ability to “listen in” what is required just now from stakeholders and employees
  • Courageous to challenge and support constructively at all levels in the group
  • Ability to understand different processes, systems and continuous improvement approach in working.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to Procurement and Logistic staff to help them achieve their KPI’s.

This role requires frequent business travel across Konecranes locations globally.
