Position – Field Support Engineer – Engineered Modernizations


General Position Responsibilities:

This position will be an Engineered Modernizations Field Support Engineer providing troubleshooting support, on site and remotely, for control systems on electric overhead cranes and wood-yard cranes in Region Americas.




  • Territory - All region Americas (USA, Canada, Mexico)


  • Essential Functions
    • Testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of all types of crane control systems including automated systems utilizing PLCs.
    • Assist customers with technical questions and troubleshooting as required.  Provide technical support via verbal and written communications.
    • Provide feedback to engineering and production with design suggestions, improvements, and corrections as necessary.
    • Participate in the 24/7 telephone technical support rotation.
    • Provide technical training for customers (end users) on new controls or system upgrades.
    • Write detailed work instructions to support field installation.




Minimum education requirement is a 2 year technical degree in Electrical Engineering.  




This position requires an excellent understanding of electricity, motor control electrical circuits, and PLC controlled systems.  A minimum of 2 years of experience working with 230, 460, and 575 volt, 3 phase motor controls on industrial equipment is required.  Experience in the overhead material handling industry is highly preferred.  A qualified candidate must be proficient in reading electrical schematics and vendor component manuals.


Direct communication with customers, technicians, electrical engineers and project management personnel is a significant part of this position.  As such, excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Site visits for commissioning and troubleshooting require the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground.  Travel estimated at 25%.
