Weld Quality Inspector - New Berlin , WI

Reports to: KNES-Global Nuclear Quality Director

 

Candidate will act as the KNES Quality weld inspector to conduct visual inspections at KNES manufacturing sites, remote sites, and vendor surveillances. Proactively identifies potential issues with welded product to confirm that primary welds and secondary welds are adequately documented.

 

Overview of Weld Quality Inspector Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review PQRs and WPS to applicable codes or standards, such as AWS D1.1 and D14.1.
  • Maintain and review records for vendor and internal WPQRs to enforce conformance to AWS D1.1 and D14.1.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and inspection of weld maps and KNES drawing requirements
  • Review and interpret data from NDT reports to assist in the disposition of pass/fail for welded assemblies.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with other third-party or vendor inspections, be the interface between customer inspection teams.
  • Verify that welding equipment is properly maintained and calibrations are up to date.
  • Perform VT on in-process and completed welded assemblies.
  • Assist in facilitating weld repairs/rework upon issuance of product disposition from KNES Engineering
  • Supports all ISO, NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B components and projects as required by the base load of the other quality department personnel.
  • Assist as a technical expert during commercial surveys of suppliers
  • Conducts surveillance of commercial suppliers performing work on nuclear business unit components
    and services as directed by quality management.
  • Completes training in use of required tooling and MT&E, to support manufacturing, Field, and
    production QA/QC responsibilities.
  • Performs additional quality related tasks as may be assigned by the KNES Global Director Nuclear Quality

 

Experience & Skills:
 

Technical aptitude/acumen with machinery, engineering, literacy and interpretation of blue prints.
Familiarity, not exclusive to performing or inspecting, welds and/or nondestructive testing
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter
Self-directed and the ability to interact with supervisors, engineers, and customers effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
Trips in the excess of two weeks of time maybe required
Strong teamwork and networking skills
AWS CWI certification, or capability to obtain immediately


Preferred Candidate will have:
Working Knowledge of Portal Cranes
Familiarity with large weldments for heavy industry applications
