Qualifications:  A college degree/diploma/certificate in Payroll or Business Administration is preferable. Related experience may be considered. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be well organized, prioritize and capable of handling a busy workload with multiple tasks, and work with minimal supervision. Competent skills in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel, are required. Experience with Ceridian  Insync Payroll software is preferable.

This position reports to the Controller of the Statutory Company and supports the requirements of all divisions (Service, Industrial Cranes, Heavy Duty Cranes, and Supply Chain) within the Company.




  • Provide payroll services to all employees through the preparation and processing weekly payroll in all provinces including Quebec. Review payroll processing reports to verify system controls prior to payroll transmission


  • Research and interpret payroll legislation, tax laws to ensure government and reporting compliance, (EHT, CPP, EI, WSIB, taxable benefits)


  • Liaison with Human Resources, employees, supervisors, government agencies, internal and external auditors


  • Prepare all payroll related month/year end accounting reconciliations, journal entries, ensuring all payroll transactions are coded to the correct GL accounts


  • Prepare the Year-end processes, annual payroll reconciliation for all legal companies, preparation of Year-end statements ensuring reconciliation of all earnings, taxable benefits and prepare all related Worker’s Compensation annual assessment reports and reconciliations


  • Maintain employee files


  • Prepare payroll related and other selected reconciliations, including the vacation and sick pay accrual while maintaining records for sick pay and vacation balances


  • Verify timecard reports for compliance, accuracy and completeness


  • Use Crystal Report Writer to improve reporting output


  • Monitor and process monthly premium payments for all associated Group Insurance billings, union remittances and Worker’s Compensation Boards remittances


  • Various other duties and special projects as assigned
