We are recruiting an Onsite Crane Service Technician to join our team based at our customer’s factory in Sunderland. Our dedicated onsite team are involved in the repair, maintenance and service of our customers’ lifting equipment, service inspection, refurbishment and modernisation projects as well as installation, testing and certification of overhead cranes and hoists.


You will report to the Operations Manager


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on electric overhead travelling cranes and all aspects of lifting equipment
  • Trouble- shooting equipment malfunctions.
  • Consulting with the customer on repair and safety related issues.
  • Generating sales leads.
  • Completing appropriate documentation.
    What we are looking for in you:
  • You must be apprentice-trained (electrically)or equivalent and fully conversant with electrical engineering disciplines
  • Engineering experience: Electrical: 415v ac 3 phase motor contactor control circuits.
  • A good understanding of 110/48 volt relay and contactor circuits.  Some frequency speed control device experience.  
  • Mechanical: Medium to large drive couplings, brakes and reduction gearboxes.
  • Knowledge of the above tasks and the associated risks when working at height.
  • Experience with overhead cranes and hoists is preferred, full product training will be given
  • Willingness to work shifts
  • Good grasp of the English language (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills as there is extensive customer contact
  • Proven commitment to safety
  • You must be able to climb a ladder and able to work at height

    Shift pattern is as follows:
    Standard 36hr week based on 4 shifts, based on the following:


Rotation 1:         Wednesday night shift & Thursday nightshift, 9pm – 6.30am

Saturday and Sunday, 7am – 4.30 pm


Rotation 2:         Tuesday night shift & Wednesday nightshift 9pm – 6.30am

Saturday and Sunday 7am – 4.30 pm


Rotation 3:         Monday night shift & Tuesday nightshift 9pm – 6.30am

Saturday and Sunday 7am – 4.30 pm


Rotation 4:         Monday night shift & Tuesday nightshift, Wednesday night shift and Thursday nightshift 9pm – 6.30am
