JOB SUMMARY:

Manage day-to-day operation and all production activities in the plant through planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes so as to ensure that production is timely, cost effective and meets the desired quality standards.

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day work performed by the production team according to manufacturing and electrical drawings, and set standards as per the MHE Group QMS and EHS policies and guidelines.
  • Manage the budget allocation for the department by assisting Company Management in preparing annual budget relating to OPEX (operational expenses) and CAPEX (capital expenditures) pertaining to the department
  • Manage and monitor the full scope of production activities in the plant - be it primarily in-house or sub-contracted so as to ensure that all planning and control results in meeting delivery schedules, achieving production efficiency and are in compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee and review the overall performance of the Production Department and initiate actions for continual improvements from receiving the jobs to final delivery ex-works as per standards/guidelines laid down by the company.  This includes developing methods and tools to improve production processes and efficiency so as to achieve increased productivity and compilation of relevant production data and information to aid critical operational decisions as and when required.
  • Coordinate with various departments such as Project, Design and purchasing departments with regard to all aspects of work involving sub-contracting, design, sourcing and purchase of materials, etc. to ensure a smooth work flow in accordance with schedules so as to meet customers' requirements and satisfaction.
  • Ensure that production and product quality is in conformity with defined quality standards and product specifications through quality inspection, testing, recording, documentation, etc as per in-house QMS procedures and quality plans.
  • Ensure the complete and accurate documentation of production planning and loading of all Orders-in-hand, production hours according to pre-determined network numbers, work centres, activity codes, etc in SAP and PST2 in order to ensure detailed planning, scheduling and analysis of activities.  This includes analysis of production records from SAP and updating of standard network data accordingly.
  • Provide feedback/input to the Design department on any design errors and production 'unfriendly' designs and highlight and explore opportunities where design changes can enhance production efficiency so as to seek continual improvement in overall design and production process.
  • Oversee and direct the upkeep and maintenance of all plant facilities including the selection of plant equipment and machinery so as to ensure that the plant facilities and production equipment/machinery are kept neat and tidy at all times in compliance with good 5S standards. This includes the acquisition of necessary production tools as required.
  • Maintain knowledge and technical expertise of current production best practices tools and techniques so as to prepare for implementation within the organisation as and when the need arises.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 6 - 8 years' experience in production of Steel fabrication and heavy machinery. Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
  • Preferably experience in welding technology and processes.
