Core Technology is a business-driven team of professionals, developing and supporting technology solutions for customers of all Business Areas. Our deliverables cover Automation/lifting device controls, Human-Machine-Interfaces, Embedded Electronics, Motor controls, Inverter technologies, Product Sustainability, Reliability and Asset Intelligence, utilizing competences from physics, measurement engineering and signal processing to algorithms, agile software development, control theory and connected control systems and even further from material compliance, reliability to lifecycle and environmental impact analysis.

 

We are looking for a Ecosystem Architect to join the Automation, Interfaces and Core SW team. The team develops control systems for industrial environments, reusable PLC software and functional safety solutions, including related conformity calculations and reports. Platform responsibilities consist of control system architecture in general and core SW for PLC, having intended use in industrial and container handling cranes. Control system interface specification management, as well as control system level safety- and functionality verifications are essential part of the team’s platform activities. Team’s responsibility covers control system types having corporate platform status, e.g. PLC-based automation systems as well as control system layer of the embedded controls. The team provides also tier4 technical support for customer deliveries. 
As Ecosystem Architect you will participate in strategic long-term planning and have responsibility of corporate control system architecture within material flow ecosystems. The position offers possibility to grow responsibilities based on business needs and your own interest. We are a business-driven team, meaning that success requires communication with business stakeholders.

 

Your main responsibilities

  • Strategic planning, developing, and maintaining corporate control system architecture and related interfaces
  • Technical documentation of the above

 
What should you bring

To succeed in this role, you need to understand and take responsibility of complex entities and have a systematic approach to problem-solving.

 

We also expect you to have

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. (Tech.) or other strong education background in automation, software, or control engineering
  • experience from developing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining industrial control systems
  • experience in IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC programming
  • experience of different field buses and TCP/IP communication

 

In addition, we appreciate experience of

  • co-operation with product owners
  • interface technologies, e.g. OPC UA
  • various PLC platforms
  • configuring I/O, also fail-safe
  • Linux-based systems
  • Web technologies
  • programming languages such as C or C#
  • standards related to PLC programming and functional safety, e.g. IEC 61131-3 and ISO 13849

 

Strong communication skills and fluency in English is required, both spoken and written. Finnish and German are a plus.

 

This role requires occasional business travel, 5-20 days per year.
