Position Title: Director, Consultation Products

Position Summary

The Director of Consultation Products has a key role in establishing Konecranes’ vision, strategy, and product roadmap for Konecranes’ Consultation Service Product offering. This role requires a self-starting individual who excels at working with cross-functional teams in a technical space and is comfortable in supporting a team effort, as well as influencing others to achieve company objectives.

A product leader at Konecranes is the champion for their products throughout each product's lifecycle, from strategic definition to technical design to end-of-life planning. The core objective of the Director of Consultation Products is to manage product and/or feature development to meet customer/market need, drive growth of the product and support product profitability. The Director of Consultation Products represents customer needs in product definition and on cross-functional program teams, ensures product acceptance in the market, and plans orderly transitions of products from one version to the next. Together with regional business stakeholders, product marketing, technologies, and other members of the product management organization, the Director of Consultation Products will help the company develop a product roadmap that ensures Konecranes offers right-fit solutions to its customers.

Essential functions of the Director of Consultation Products include developing product requirements for the Konecranes offering based upon customer, technical, and market information. The Director of Consultation Products develops and brings to life a business case for each of their products including product positioning, packaging and pricing strategies. They then champion the product launch process within Konecranes, and where needed, directly with potential customers.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial product ownership of consultation services products offering including but not limited to RopeQ, RailQ, Maintenance Assessment Plan, and Critical Components Assessments.
  • End to end ownership of consultation services products: conception, development, pilot, launch, profit, maintenance, refresh, end-of-life
  • Manage relationships and influence cross-functional groups to achieve product goals
  • Support cross-functional and global conversations with business to drive growth of the product line
  • Participate in customer-facing sales meetings, events, and user conferences as a product expert
  • Prioritize and update defects, improvements, and enhancements; maintain roadmaps
  • Collaborate with technologies, and research and innovations teams to align and develop as business needs demand
  • Prepare business cases as required
  • As growth demands, build team of product managers
  • Support agile development as a Product Owner as required
  • All other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience with product management, professional services, or in another relevant role

  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and work in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment

  • Ability to work with sales executives and assist with opportunities as subject matter expert
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree preferred (ideally in mechanical engineering); prior equivalent experience and training may be considered in lieu of formal degree
