Maintenance Technician
First Shift Maintenance Mechanic Position Overview
This position is responsible for various preventative maintenance activities, repairing/maintaining machines, and troubleshooting with the goal of maintaining a safe and clean work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures. Problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics are crucial to this role.
Essential Job Functions
- Repair and maintain manual and CNC machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
- Perform emergency repairs
- Conduct preventive maintenance to mechanical/electrical devices
- Work with operators to problem-solve and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Be able to detect and troubleshoot malfunctions through observation (sound or visual)
- Run diagnostic tests to ensure the system is operable and running safely
Secondary Job Functions
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Keep open communication with 1st Shift Maintenance regarding issues, concerns, and solutions
- Prioritize and schedule various tasks throughout a shift based on importance.
- Maintain a good working relationship with operators
- Operate scissors lift and forklifts
- Communicate machine updates with various departments and shifts.
Requirements
- Knowledge of common manufacturing processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a maintenance mechanic or similar role
- Great understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics
- Familiarity using various power and hand tools, such as crane hoists and grinders
- Knowledge of computer systems (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Must have your own tools to complete essential job functions
- Strong knowledge of Machine Electronics and Controls
Other Skills/Abilities
- Physical requirements may include lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Organized and uses time effectively.
- Must be able to interpret structural and machining blueprints, knowledgeable of fabrication drawings and tolerances.
- Ability to think ahead and plan for future needs.
- Problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
